Should I have kids in the contact of climate change in Ireland?
Hey, I’ve been thinking about something a lot and just wondering what other people think?
I really want kids, but I also feel guilty about it because of climate change. More people means more emissions and resources being used, and I don’t want to make things worse. But even more than that, I keep thinking—what kind of world would they be growing up in? Things are already getting bad, and it’s only going to get worse. I hate the idea of bringing a child into a future where they might suffer, or even be in real danger because of climate disasters.
I feel kind of weird even saying all this, but I’ve read a lot about where things are headed, and it’s really hard to ignore. I know people have always had kids even in tough times, but this feels different. I also don’t want to let fear stop me from having a family if that’s what I really want.
So, I guess I’m just wondering—has anyone else thought about this? If you’re a parent, did this ever cross your mind? If you want kids, how do you deal with these worries? Would love to hear other people’s thoughts.
