Rate my lease deal: Tesla MY LR RWD
Hi car talk uk
I already made a similar post on the Tesla subreddit (see my profile) but i will focus this post on the deal itself. I am looking for some opinions on whether I am paying a fair price on an EV Salary Sacrifice scheme via my employer who is with Ayvens/Lease plan. This would be my first car ever after sharing cars for the last 10yrs but I am desperate for a car now that I have a child.
Looking for 3 yrs, 8k miles and includes insurance/tyres/window/maintenence etc like the usual offering. 40% tax payer also looking to reduce salary artificially to (or close to) £60k to keep Child benefit from government (~£1k)
The order made:
Model Y LR RWD (bog standard with no options) - 75kwh battery (373 miles claimed range, more realistically 300) - £535pm until April when price will go up by BIK (~£15pm) roughly £550pm for 25/26 tax year, £565pm for 26/27 tax year etc.
For the sake of this post let's take the average price over 3 yrs to be : £560pm
EXPECTED USAGE : - Very short journeys in London and will look to granny charge at home with OVO EV rate (7p kw) - + about one (maybe more) trips to Birmingham (120-140miles each way depending on route - normally 120 though) a month to see in-laws who do not have a driveway so charging from theirs would be difficult (house is far away from road where car will be parked). With additional driving in bham I sometimes come back to London with about 270-300miles done.
My man math calculations to try and justify the Model Y is that technically it should be able to get me to bham and back on one full charge (assuming real world range if 280miles)
I have also seen the new Model Y juniper and although it is somewhat nice, I don't see it being THAT much better than current MYs today and it is already very pricey for the launch edition.
I really just care about getting the most range and I think/predict there will not be a MY Juniper LR RWD, rather it would be a SR RWD with reduced range that probably would not get me from London to bham and back in one charge? And cost a lot more to lease due to higher price (probably) and luxury car tax applicable by then.
My total effective cost to me over 3 yrs is about £20, 340 including insurance, tyres, breakdown etc + 'saving child benefit of about 1k a year)
Compared to current tesla website for 10k miles for £349 monthly and £4184 down for total of £16,936 but without insurance, tyres, maintenance etc.
This is the biggest "purchase" of my life so far so really don't want to get this wrong. Any thoughts are welcome! TIA
