Why did they kill that guy offscreen?

I was so looking forward to the fight between Crabfeeder and Daemon. I was confused at first, because I thought it was Crabfeeder dragging half a body out of the cave to be extra creepy or something. It looked cool, once I realize what was actually happening, but it felt like such a cop out. And no matter how hard I try, I just can't accept Matt Smith with that blonde wig. Is the wig bad or does it just look strange on him?
