Citizenship application backlog??

I am a non-EU citizen, have spent more than 7 years here in Germany, including my student times and currently working since mid 2020 (earlier BC and now PR). I have good conversational command on German and hold a B1 certificate.
I am thinking to apply for citizenship early next year. Does anyone know how fast the process is at Ausländerbehörde Leipzig in the recent times?
I have seen other city subs stating a huge backlog and nightmarish situations in getting the applications processed.
