Is Obsidian flames a good set to start out with?

Hey, so I want to get into Pokemon and after doing a little bit of research Obsidian flames caught my eye, but after digging into it a little bit, I found that a lot of peole are not very fond of it and call it a bad set. Which brings me here, is it good for a beginner who likes it or should I try some other set.
