Brutal decisions must be made
There can only be 1.
I am very lucky and I have been a determined collector for about 15 years now. I grew up in southern California and have always had an appreciation for cool cars, trucks, 4x4’s and bikes. My brother and I used to ride in the back of our VW Bus (mom driving) any yelling “that’s my car” every time we saw a kickass car go by. We knew every car model and the first one to “call it”….“got the car.” This behavior went on for years. We were 5 and 7 years old and drove mom nuts with our game. My mom always drove a VW and my pop always drove a company car (he was a salesman), but he had an old Porsche in our garage for weekends. My brother and I both still love cars to this day. We each have several cars from our youth in our collections. I never married and I don’t have any kids, so with grown up money, no supervision, and no kids, I could finally have all the cars I missed out on when I was younger. I am very selective and only like highest quality examples with the best options and years.
So fast forward 50 years, and I pretty much have all the cars I wanted when I was 5 and probably a few more. It is becoming increasingly difficult to manage the maintenance and storage of all of the vehicles. I am not Jay Leno. My brother made fun of me one day and said “you’re playing the game for real now.” He wanted to know what my plan was for being old and having too many cars to keep track of. I am up to 3 buildings full of cars, bikes, and trucks. I have a service lift, 3 cars haulers, and a service truck to care for all my stuff.
It is time to find a new home for some of the collection. So with that, I will need to decide which one of these two kickass trucks to sell.
1986 Toyota pickup base model 22r 5 speed manual 4x4. Truck came from Silverton, OR. 1 owner. Cleanest Toyota truck I have ever seen. Clean carfax, clean title. 147,000 miles.
1996 Lexus LX 450 (80 Series Landcruiser) Old Man Emu lift 2” lift, Ironman front bumper, 35” Yokohama Geolandars on 16” Motegi Trailite wheels, new leather interior, heated front seats, Pioneer in dash stereo with Car Play, Infinity speakers, backup camera, 4k front and rear dash cams, push button ignition/security system, vehicle stored in airplane hanger in Austin most of its life. Receipts for $12k (in 2020) in drivetrain/engine rebuild, Carfax, clean title. 292,000 miles.
Which one has to go? Why? I also have 3 highly desirable full size 4x4 trucks, a 4x4 camper van, and a locked TJ Unlimited so I am not really hurting for offroad vehicles. This is not an easy decision for me. I have never sold any items out of the collection.
