Books you love by authors who barely wrote anything else.

Every now and again, I google Gayle Honeyman (author of the wonderful Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine) and Scott Smith (author of one of my favourite books, The Ruins, and just one other book, the fantastic A Simple Plan) to see if they have any other novels in the works. A nope for both.

Meanwhile, the Kingsolvers and Kings of the world consistently bless us with output, for which I say a hearty thank you. Even people like Lionel Shriver, who hasn’t published a novel since 2016’s The Mandibles, are pretty consistent and have a rich catalogue to work through. (In fact I just googled her and she published a novel in 2024 called Mania! brb…)

Which authors do you get low key annoyed or frustrated with for not meeting your greedy desire for more of their long form content? Who did you hungrily consume and then find they seemed to drop off the face of the earth or quit novels in favour of a Hollywood career or something else?
