Temporarily Laid off and Health Benefits.
I have been temporarily laid off from my job, and my company is saying that it is mandatory for me to keep paying my benefits. I pay a premium for the benefits, as my company only covers 65%. I don’t need the benefits as we basically use my partners benefits more as they are way better. I don’t think it’s fair that I should be paying so much for benefits when I am going to be making way less from EI. I wanted to check if legally I’m allowed to make the decision, as I know it says that employers need to keep your benefits and vacation, but never says anything if you pay for part of it.
